About YBA
Yakutat Bay Adventures is a Limited Liability Partnership formed by two of Alaska’s industry leaders, Capt. Mallory Purdy & Capt. Travis Wendt. YBA was formed in 2023 after Travis & Mallory were given the opportunity to purchase the C/V Sea Hunter from Yakutat Charters. This duo first met in 2017 while both guiding for another Alaskan lodge, Chignik Bay Adventures. After many summers of operating charter boats together on the Alaskan Peninsula, Travis & Mallory formed a friendship, casting ideas and techniques off of one another to strengthen their fishing skills. Together they have become two of Alaska’s fishiest captains.
It is their goal to provide the best fishing & tour service in Yakutat. With the purchase of the C/V Sea Hunter, they have the capability to provide a safe, reliable service to all clients. Capt. Mallory makes Yakutat his home and will be the “boots-on-the-ground” partner who will lead the training of our captains and will be responsible for handling winterization, spring launching of the vessel, and any mechanical issues that arise. Capt. Travis will manage the day-to-day operations of the business and will be the knowledgebase who answers the phone and replies to emails when you contact us. Together they plan to make Yakutat Bay Adventures a full service, world-class fishing & tour company.

Captain Mallory Purdy
Hey I’m Mallory, I grew up in Bend Oregon and moved to north western Washington as a young teenager. As soon I saw the ocean I knew I needed to be on it… a lot. I’ve worked as a charter captain the past six summers in Alaska and commercial fished the winters up and down the west coast.
If you fish with me expect good energy and lots of laughs, but you came for the fish right? Knowing the fish’s favorite spots and meals gets it done on the easy days (aka the normal days). But on the tough days? That’s where my ability to adapt and straight up work hard is what keeps those rod tips bent and the drags screaming’. New friends and a full fish box is the goal, so let’s git er done!

Captain Travis Wendt
Travis Wendt is a full-time fishing guide in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, holding a Master 50 ton USCG license. He started out in the guiding industry in 2005 and has nearly 30,000 hours behind the helm of charter vessels. Travis was born and raised in Lewiston, Idaho and continues to call Lewiston his permanent home. Being well-rounded in both river and saltwater fishing, Travis brings priceless information and techniques to YBA. He is also skilled in business management and marketing, making him a great fit for the administration side of YBA. Travis is able to coach and lead clients through a calm, quiet demeanor.
